Brett Engle, PhD, LCSW,
EMC Trauma Therapist, Founder and CEO
Dr. Engle is a trauma therapist, keynote speaker, dynamic trainer, and comedian. It is his mission to prevent suicide, drug overdoses and improve health and performance by resolving the traumatic memories that belie numerous emotional and physical problems. Upon finding a way to specifically and directly yet gently and powerfully address traumatic memories, Dr. Engle left academia to pursue transformational clinical treatment and training full time. He combines nonstigmitizing, respectful, empirically-derived common factor clinical processes with practical neuroscience to treat trauma and train other professionals to do the same. He also has expertise in training mental and health care professionals to measurable clinical competency standards.
Dr. Engle has been a mental health professional and scholar of therapeutic processes for 20 years. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in Miami and was an Assistant and then Associate Professor at Barry University for 10 years. He has expertise in numerous evidence-based practices, including motivational interviewing (MI), person-centered, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), rational-emotive behavior therapy (REBT), guided imagery and hypnosis. He has trained extensively with the founder of the innovative and transformational approach to working with trauma, Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT), Dr. Jon Connelly.
As a comedian, Brett performs at the Improv and other comedy clubs around the country and was a Florida’s Funniest semi-finalist and an Ultimate Miami Comedian finalist. He combines his extensive expertise in therapeutic change with comedy to produce informative, transformational, and fun activities, events, and therapy and coaches other performers to excel.
